| Ideally, realms would have distinct, non-overlapping functions such that every possible activity in every market sector would fall under the auspices of a single, supremely competent realm provider. In practice, however, there will be multiple entities attempting to represent each realm, each of which has its own strengths and weaknesses. This results in a competitive environment where multiple realm providers vie for the privilege of being the prime representative of a particular industry or market sector. This environment is very similar to the current environment of overlapping trade groups and industry consortiums that compete for “mindshare” and representative authority. Given this similarity, realm providers are expected to directly correlate to existing trade groups and industry consortiums, extending their ability to serve their constituents. |

Gain the Support of Relevant Services
| Just as existing trade groups seek to increase their authority through gaining the support of organizations and corporations in their domain, realm providers increase their standing by gaining the support of service providers in their realm. For example, a Brokerage realm provider that seeks to represent service providers involved in investment activities would lobby eTrade to adopt the realm’s data standards. |
| In addition to courting the support of service providers, realm providers build brand recognition from end users. Because service providers rely upon the realm provider’s brand to assuage the privacy fears of users, service providers will naturally be compelled to participate in the realm with the strongest brand. This brand might be advertised in any number of ways, the most likely of which would be visible pronouncement of certification on web pages – especially in the signon area. |

Increase Consumer Confidence
| Finally, not only must realm providers have their brand recognized by consumers, those end-user consumers must be confident that services participating in their realm are trustworthy. Realm providers accomplish this through a mix of public relations, advertisement, and exemplary performance. |
