Boy, how do you answer that sort of question. David Barrett (pictured on the left) is just a guy trying to find his place in the world. His major
pastimes involve drinking copious amounts of tea, writing in his notebook, reading, and sleeping
extensively. David never backs down from a debate, though he attempts to concede graciously when defeated. In light of recent events, David has
directed his interests toward understanding what the West is, how it's perceived, and how it will affect the world in upcoming years.
David has a degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Michigan, and is greatly looking forward to visiting Ann Arbor (especially
Espresso Royale) on this trip. Experience-wise, David has worked with Intel optimizing 3d collision detection
routines in assembly language, with Motorsims writing 3d graphics engines, and with NextPage writing engineering specifications and end-user documentation. David's next big career goal is to gain the
skills necessary to found or join a startup as the CTO, though he has plenty to do before and after
accomplishing that.
David's family has "orbited Lake Michigan" (in my brother's words) by living in Michigan, Illinois, and Wisconsin, all three of which he enjoyed
tremendously. At fault for David's wanderlust are his parents (Lenny and Sue), who left on a year-long sailing expedition out the lakes, down the
coast, and through the Carribbean as David was leaving for college.
Over the course of the next year, David intends to travel the world to see, smell,
taste, listen to, and speak with the world outside his door.
