These ice-encrusted falls were tucked away a half-mile back in the Jemez National Forest. It was the first hike I've taken with my backpack, and I'm happy to report that all went well.

I'm not happy to report, however, that a family of boneheads decided that a fun way to spend the afternoon was throwing large rocks at the delicate ice formations.

(Coming soon)
I was so angry when I saw these guys throwing rocks. I stormed up and yelled at them for a while, then pointed my camera to catch their crime. Either they were extremely careful aimers, or were freaked out by the camera, as we three (the two in the picture and I) stood basically locked in these positions for several minutes. Eventually they found their mark (or got up their courage) and threw the rock, and I walked away.

I do take some small satisfaction in knowing that it was their last rock thrown.
